1. Hazard Classification of Common Reagents

Chemical GHS Hazard PPE Required Storage
TFA Corrosive (H314), Respiratory (H335) Acid-resistant gloves, face shield, fume hood Glass, segregated, ventilated
Piperidine Flammable (H226), Toxic (H301, H311, H331) Nitrile gloves, goggles, fume hood Flammable cabinet
DMF Reproductive Hazard (H360) Nitrile gloves, fume hood Ventilated, sealed
DCM Carcinogen (H350), Toxic (H331) Nitrile gloves, fume hood Flammable cabinet
Acetonitrile Flammable (H225), Toxic (H302, H312, H332) Nitrile gloves, goggles Flammable cabinet
Diethyl ether Extremely flammable (H224) Nitrile gloves, no sparks Flammable refrigerator

2. SDS Management

Requirement Procedure
SDS Availability Hardcopy in chemical storage area + digital on shared drive
SDS Review Updated when new chemical introduced, minimum annually
New Chemical Approval Safety review before purchase
Training Annual chemical safety training for all personnel

3. Spill Response

Spill Size Response
Small (<100 mL lab) Use spill kit, absorb, dispose as hazardous waste
Large (>100 mL) Evacuate area, call emergency response
TFA spill Neutralize with sodium bicarbonate, absorb
Organic solvent Absorb with vermiculite, ventilate area
